“Earth Day On The Edge”

The Edge prides itself on its green behavior - green with envy, green to the gills, green from grass stains as well as green in their willingness to shorten up scenes to save energy rather than blow a circuit. Youth Community Gardening Service Project
3:30 – 5:00pm at the Bainbridge Island Senior Center, 370 Brien Drive SE
Youth and teens from local Health, Housing, and Human Services agencies will combine efforts to “spring clean” the Senior Center gardens. These young volunteers will begin weeding, pruning, and invasive plant removal in preparation for a larger “Garden Makeover” on May 1. Support Scouts’ projects, camping, and wilderness experiences while reusing and recycling. Donors can elect to have electronics ground up and responsibly recycled by a member of the Washington State Recyclers Association. Or, if they still work, they can be refurbished and used by others who could not otherwise afford them. Donations suggested: monitor, CPU, printer, copier, laptop, microwave - $10; keyboard, mouse, cell phone - $1; small household appliances - $5. Borrow a Home "Power Cost Monitor" from Bainbridge Public Library
In celebration of Earth Day, the Bainbridge Island Energy Challenge and Puget Sound Energy have arranged to make four PowerCost Monitors available to the community through the Bainbridge Public Library. Any resident with a Library card can now ask at the Information Desk to sign out a monitor that will reveal specific household electricity use and encourage economy.

Tools for Effective Climate Change Communication
