Fix-it Fair

Bainbridge Island's inaugural Fix-it Fair has been POSTPONED. Check back for rescheduled date.

Fix-it Fairs are three-hour events held in community spaces throughout Kitsap. At the events, skilled fixers provide free repairs for common household items and clothing. All repairs are first come, first served.

Register here to let us know what you’re bringing so we can plan the event at ,
or by contacting Gilian Engelson at or Caitlin Newman at 360-337-
4678. Your information will not be used for anything other than communicating about the Fix-It Fair. Walk-ins are also welcome.

In order for the event to succeed, we have various opportunities for the community to provide support:
Skilled Fixers and Volunteers: This fair can’t happen without volunteers. Whether you are a skilled fixer or would like to help support the running of the fair, we welcome your help. Fixers bring their own tools and the organizers provide common consumable supplies.
Partnering Organizations: We have a limited number of tables for businesses/ organizations to teach a new skill or educate attendees in order to build community resilience.
Sponsors: If your organization/business would like to sponsor part of the event,  we are seeking funds to cover costs for snacks/drinks, stipends for fixers/apprentices and/or marketing.

Please contact Gilian Engelson at if you are interested in participating in any capacity. To learn more about the event, please visit:

What to expect at the fix-it fair
Visitors check-in, sign waivers, and then wait for their name to be called. Visitors stay with their items during the repair and sometimes assist the fixer. Fixers assess the items and notify visitors if something cannot be repaired.

You can bring more than two items. After fixers work on your first two items, you can join the back of the waiting list with two more items (if there is enough time). Fixers will be available beginning at 2:00 pm. After 4:30pm, new repair requests will not be accepted. The event is family-friendly and snacks are provided.

Items should be small enough that they can be carried in by one person. Do not bring items that are leaking, dangerous, contain gasoline or any other combustible fuel, or have a strong odor. Clothing that needs mending should be cleaned. If specialized parts are required, please bring those parts with you. Repairs are not guaranteed. Repair is free, but donations are gratefully accepted to support this and future fix-it events.

If you are interested in being a fixer or volunteer at the fair, please contact Gilian Engelson at or Caitlin Newman at 360-337-4678. Fixers bring their own tools
and the organizers provide common consumable supplies.

This event is being organized and supported by the Bainbridge Island Library of Things, the Bainbridge Island Senior Community Center, Sustainable Bainbridge, Zero Waste Washington, Kitsap County government, and is partially supported by a grant from the Washington Department of Ecology.
