Supporting a resilient and thriving community — environmentally + economically + socially

Frog Rock Forum

The purpose of Frog Rock Forum is to facilitate Connections for Community Resilience, which is our shared capacity to thrive amid change and creatively utilize environmental, economic and social resources to enhance life, individually and collectively.

Find out more about Frog Rock itself here. We adopted the name of this notable local landmark because it's earthy and well-grounded, memorable and fun, plus it's GREEN!

The 2012 edition of Frog Rock Forum is currently taking shape and will likely feature a dynamic presentation about and engagement with issues of contemporary citizenship, with particular note of the 50th anniversary of our community library -- one of the strongest aspects of our resilient community! Stay tuned for more details. Contact to find out more or to volunteer to help.

On June 19, 2011, the inaugural Frog Rock Forum took the form of an educational and interactive fair at IslandWood, where 44 local people and organizations presented their activities to the wider Bainbridge Island community as well as to interested persons and organization from beyond the island.

Local leaders displayed their projects and engaged in question-and-answer sessions with 250-300 attendees during a very lively afternoon. See more about each presenter here. There were also blog, Flickr and Twitter contests inviting creative articulations of "What a resilient community looks like to me." Check here to learn see the winning entries.

Sustainable Bainbridge launched Frog Rock Forum as a way to help island leaders both showcase their ideas and activities and gain insights from others who are interested in the work that is being done locally.  We hope to encourage people to increase the resilience of their own families and neighborhood networks, as well as our entire community.
