Supporting a resilient and thriving community — environmentally + economically + socially

Prepared Neighborhoods

Prepared Neighborhoods is a new citizen-led initiative from Sustainable Bainbridge to promote emergency preparedness for no-power and low-power situations. This initiative ties into and promotes the five-year emergency preparedness plan led by our Fire Department.

Emergencies could include both short-term no-power scenarios, such as winter storms, and medium-term low-power scenarios as when an earthquake affects bridge access and interrupts food and fuel delivery. We seek to learn together and provide mutual aid at both an individual street and larger neighborhood level. Through strong local relationships as neighbors, our town can weather any storm.

Twitter is a useful tool for citizens staying in touch with professionals during an emergency. Here's the quick reference guide for Twitter communication: @bainbridgefire (Fire Dept), @InsideBI911 (Inside Bainbridge), and @Kitsapdem (KCDEM).

You can sign up for regional alerts and warnings, and report power outages to PSE by calling (888) 225-5773.
