Supporting a resilient and thriving community — environmentally + economically + socially

Prepared Neighborhoods

Prepared Neighborhoods is a new citizen-led initiative from Sustainable Bainbridge to promote emergency preparedness for no-power and low-power situations. This initiative ties into and promotes the five-year emergency preparedness plan led by our Fire Department.

Emergencies could include both short-term no-power scenarios, such as winter storms, and medium-term low-power scenarios as when an earthquake affects bridge access and interrupts food and fuel delivery. We seek to learn together and provide mutual aid at both an individual street and larger neighborhood level. Through strong local relationships as neighbors, our town can weather any storm.

Sign up for the City of Bainbridge Island Nixle account to have texts sent to your cell phone about road closures and power outages. Just text our zip code 98110 to 888777 it's that easy and free.
