Visiting one of your regular retailers?

These Bainbridge Island stores collect items for reuse or recycling that you can't put in your curbside container.

Ace Hardware

Batteries – alkaline and rechargeables (recycle)
Eyeglasses (reuse)
Lights containing mercury (look for the chemical symbol "Hg") - compact fluorescents,  fluorescent tubes, high  intensity discharge lamps (HID).  Ten per day allowed. (hazardous waste-responsible disposal)
String lights – only in November, December, to the middle of January (recycle)

Cardboard shirt inserts – in good condition (reuse)
Leave their paper bags and plastic bags there and they will reuse.

The test is, if you can stretch the film when pushing your thumb into it, then you can recycle it. (reuse)
