Styrofoam and CD Recycling Collection Events

Bainbridge Island Zero Waste and Bay Hay and Feed team up twice a year (in January and July) to offer the community a chance to have their Stryofoam packaging and coolers, as well as CDs, recycled.

The next collection will be July 20 & 21, 10am-4pm, at the Bay Hay and Feed barn.

This collection is run by ALL VOLUNTEERS.  At the January 2019 effort, 45 individuals helped for a collective 106 hours!  If you or your friends and family can lend a hand to snap and bag Stryofoam at the next collection, please email .

Styrofoam must be

  • clean
  • dry
  • white
  • snappable
  • #6 EPS polystyrene packaging blocks or coolers
  • REMOVE ALL TAPE and STICKERS from blocks and coolers

CDs must be loose -- no cases.
A 25-cent donation is requested to defray the cost of bags.

Howard Block, Bay Hay owner, trucks the bagged Styro to Styro Recycle in Kent on regular business trips to the area.
The CDs are sent to GreenDisk.

Our friendly business sponsors are Bay Hay and Feed (of course!), UCB, and Town and Country Market.
