DESCRIPTION:Imagination and resourcefulness are on display this spring\, when 10 artists known for their use of recycled\, reused and repurposed materials celebrate Earth Month 2026 in BAC’s exhibition\, Tossed & Found\, April 3-26. Come open the show with us on Friday\, April 3\, 6-8pm and toast the artists with a pour of Amelia Wynn wine. \nExpect the unexpected\, playfulness\, pointed comment\, and technical mastery in work that helps us look at our everyday world in new and unique ways: Joanne Bohannon’s totemic crows and owls\, David Dickhut’s quirky people\, Lynn DiNino’s imaginative and hilarious narratives\, Denise Harris’ witty small scale masterpieces\, Steve Parmelee’s surprising and successful juxtapositions\, Loran Scruggs’ tin homages to a world at risk\, Kathy Ross’ gorgeously obsessive mosaics\, MJ Linford’s terrific Plastic Sea book and Margie McDonald’s non-representational wire and found object sculpture. \nApparel presents another opportunity for reinvention and reuse\, as seen in Tyler Andersen’s handbags made from shoes\, and wearables by artists from ReFashion Bainbridge 2026.

DESCRIPTION:Come sort ferrous from non-ferrous metal at the BI Senior/Community Center for about an hour any 2nd or 4th Saturday of the month from 11am-noon. Participants say it is easy\, relaxing\, companionable and meaningful. \nEnter through the side door (thrift store entrance)\, walk down the hall\, and turn left at the last doorway in that hallway. Magnets provided for sorting. The aluminum\, steel and other metals are taken to a scrapyard. Funds received are donated back to the BISCC. The third time you help out\, you get your own magnet for keeps! \nThis is a project sponsored jointly by BI Zero Waste and the BISCC and headed up by Barbara Ochota. Questions? Artists who work with repurposed materials understand this firsthand\, and a panel of sustainable artists and community leaders will gather at BIMA on April 12\, 3-5pm\, to discuss how making can contribute to a more thoughtful future. \nThe panelists\, who are all involved with the upcoming ReFashion Show\, will share the history of this show\, their creative processes\, the environmental urgency behind textile waste\, and how refashioning opens up new pathways for expression\, community connection\, and sustainable futures. Plus\, in honor of Handwork 2026\, we will examine how handwork\, repurposing\, and resourcefulness shape the ReFashion Show\, now in its 10th year\, and the broader story of craft today. \nTickets coming soon!
