SUMMARY:Panel Talk: 10 Years of ReFashion
DESCRIPTION:Craft can be a tool for change—one stitch\, garment\, and reclaimed material at a time. Artists who work with repurposed materials understand this firsthand\, and a panel of sustainable artists and community leaders will gather at BIMA on April 12\, 3-5pm\, to discuss how making can contribute to a more thoughtful future. \nThe panelists\, who are all involved with the upcoming ReFashion Show\, will share the history of this show\, their creative processes\, the environmental urgency behind textile waste\, and how refashioning opens up new pathways for expression\, community connection\, and sustainable futures. Plus\, in honor of Handwork 2026\, we will examine how handwork\, repurposing\, and resourcefulness shape the ReFashion Show\, now in its 10th year\, and the broader story of craft today. \nTickets coming soon!

DESCRIPTION:Bring clean items\, along with any relevant manuals or parts\, to the event. Bring up to two items such as: \n\nclothing\nsmall appliances\nlamps\nvacuums\njewelry\nsmall electronics\nsmall welding jobs\nsmall woodworking repairs (including minor furniture fixes)\n\nThe volunteer fixers will attempt repairs and share their knowledge\, helping you learn valuable repair skills. \nFix-it consultations are available on a first-come\, first-served basis. All participants must check in at the welcome table by 12:30pm and be present during repairs. While our volunteer fixers will do their best\, successful repairs cannot be guaranteed. Fixers will attempt repairs on one item at a time. If there’s time\, you can join the line again with your second item. Learn more general fix-it fair details here. Questions? Contact: hdowey@gmail.com. \nThe Fix-it Fair welcomes both participants and volunteers. If you have repair skills to share or wish to support this community initiative\, please email Heather Dowey.  \nThis collaborative initiative between Sustainable Bainbridge and BARN\, with support from the Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island\, promotes sustainability\, waste reduction\, and community skill-sharing while helping participants extend the life of their belongings. It embodies commitment to building a more sustainable Kitsap community by promoting repair over replacement\, reducing waste\, and fostering a circular economy. By participating\, you’ll join a neighbor-to-neighbor network that values skill-sharing and helps preserve essential repair knowledge for future generations.
