SUMMARY:Bainbridge Island Environmental Conference: Rising Seas
DESCRIPTION:This year’s Bainbridge Environmental Conference: Rising Tides will bring participants into learning and conversation about the science and impacts of sea level rise\, and how we as an Island and Puget Sound community can and should respond. The conference will include: \n\ntalks on the science of sea level rise and its impacts\ntabling by local environmental organizations with additional resources and opportunities for conversation\nmultiple breakout sessions where participants can take deeper dives into several aspects of this topic including:\n\nvisualization and art;\nlocal and regional government planning for sea level rise;\naddressing sea level rise impacts on recreation and shoreline access;\necosystem impacts and solutions for helping our non-human friends adjust and respond to changing sea levels;\nand more!\n\n\n\nThere are also two optional Saturday field trips before the conference where participants can learn about shoreline landowners addressing coastal protection\, and learn about how our Parks department is approaching sea level rise impacts on parks resources and accessibility. DESCRIPTION:Come stroll the beautiful trails at IslandWood to view apparel creatively repurposed from various materials at the seventh annual ReFashion Show. Designers have entered their juried outfits in one of three categories: \n\nUpcycled\nMystery Box\nThemed: Connections\n\nThe trails display will be open from 1-3pm. Cost is $15 adults\, $5 students.\nA runway show with awards follows at 3:15. Cost is $10 adults\, $5 students. \nThere will also be an accessories exchange in the Welcome Center. Bring gently used purses\, bags\, scarves\, and jewelry. You are welcome to bring and not take\, or vice versa\, or both. \nTicket registration will open in mid-late April.

DESCRIPTION:Purchase tickets here.\nThe 2022 Bainbridge Island Environmental Conference at IslandWood presents “We All Get Dressed: Garb\, Gear and Growing a Sustainable Clothing Economy” on Sunday March 27\, from 12:30-5pm.  The conference will feature keynote speakers focused on consumer psychology\, our local fibershed\, and closing the loop on textile waste through innovative recycling technology. \nFollowing the keynotes\, there will be two sets of breakout sessions that will cover a variety of topics in both discussion and hands-on learning formats\, including a clothing audit\, a local fibershed panel\, toxic chemicals in textiles\, the secondhand clothing journey\, clothing labels\, WA textile legislation\, and repairs. There will also be exhibits in the Great Hall for you to get connected\, learn more & take action! \nParticipants will be invited to bring a piece of clothing to swap and to share their ideas of what each of us can do to contribute to a sustainable fashion economy.
