Positive Energy began as the Community Energy Task Force in 2008. Meeting monthly for over a year, the group initiated the Bainbridge Island Energy Challenge as a means to lessen the demands on the electric energy system for the island.
Working closely with the City of Bainbridge Island and Puget Sound Energy, the group evolved into Positive Energy, the Bainbridge Alliance for Clean Power. In 2010, Positive Energy and its partners successfully competed for a federal grant for energy retrofits on the island and in Bremerton.
