Who We Are
We’re a community-based group with one mission: to accelerate and expand the installation of solar panels and battery storage systems across Bainbridge Island. Whether you’re curious, ready to install, or already generating clean energy, we’re here to support you with local news and the latest information on incentives and opportunities. Currently, 5% of our buildings have solar; these installations are generating 2% of our energy. Let’s build a more sustainable, resilient, and energy-independent island!
What We Want To Do
We are mobilizing efforts around five things:
- NEW – Bainbridge Solar Collective Newsletter. We have launched a new monthly newsletter focused on news and resources that can help islanders install solar and batteries: there is already lots of momentum in our area; we want everyone to know about it. View past issues below. Please SUBSCRIBE to the Bainbridge Solar Collective Newsletter to get the next issue delivered to your inbox.
- Solarization Campaigns. We are collaborating with the City and other local organizations to bolster and extend solarization and battery adoption initiatives. The City’s new Solarize Bainbridge Island campaign kicked off in March. You can ENROLL NOW. We have been leaning in to get the word out. The first two workshops at City Hall were well attended; more than 180 folks have already signed up for personalize assessments; the next workshop is on May 9 at 10am at Grace Episcopal Church.
- Solar Ambassadors. BSC is building a team of local experts who can answer questions about solar and battery installations.
- Solar & Battery Tours. Our group has begun work to organize tours of existing installations on the island.
- Permitting. We want to work with the City and with PSE to make the permitting process easier and faster.
We are just getting started. Please watch this space for more info about what is next.
