Community Screening of "Shift Change"
7:00pm, Thursday, May 9
Bainbridge Island Public Library
1270 Madison Ave. N
Join us for this special screening of the highly acclaimed documentary film, "Shift Change," with Seattle area filmmakers, Mark Dworkin and Melissa Young, who will lead Q&A and conversation after the film.
Mark and Melissa filmed and interviewed worker-owners and thriving cooperative businesses in the U.S. and gained unprecedented access to the world's oldest and largest network of worker cooperatives in Mondragon, Spain, where 60% of local residents are employee-owners. While the cooperative as a form of business or organization has been around for many decades, especially for food/farming, housing, and credit unions, in these difficult economic times for many small businesses, the employee-owned model is gaining mainstream popularity.
This event is cooperatively presented/promoted by Sustainable Bainbridge, Sound Food, Sustainable Business Network, Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce, YES! Magazine, Living Economies Forum and Kitsap Community Food Cooperative. More info - 842-0223.
