The Seattle Metals Guild (SMG) has supported women’s shelters and the Dress for Success program for years by collecting jewelry and beads, then sorting, cleaning and repairing them. The finished items are donated to the aforementioned programs or are sold, with all profits going back to these organizations. They’ve raised $54,500 since 2016!
You can drop off any beads or jewelry — even broken, tangled, or mismatched — at the following collection points:
  • Esther’s Fabric Store
  • Bainbridge Arts and Crafts
  • Bay Hay and Feed
  • Sole Mates
Jane Martin, the 2020 SMG Lifetime Achievement Award honoree (and Zero Waste steering committee member), is a founding member of this initiative and is among the group of volunteers who will work their repair magic on the broken pieces to benefit these good causes.
