  • Car seats are accepted only if they are clean and have at least 1 full calendar year left before expiration; the expiration date can be found in your owner’s manual.  Their staff will confirm usability upon donation.
  • There is a car seat acceptance form to fill out.

Recycle:

Target usually hosts a car seat take-back collection for two weeks in the latter parts of April and September. A 20% off coupon for another car seat or select baby gear is available upon trade-in.

All types of car seats are accepted, including infant car seats, convertible car seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats, as well as car seats that are expired or damaged. For complete details, go here.

Car seats contain foam, metal and plastic. Target works with recycling partner Ecotech to turn those materials, respectively, into carpet padding, new metal, and  new plastic products for Target (go here and scroll down to see what products).
