Bainbridge Island is at a critical point in the sustainable transportation planning process for establishing a vision for traveling safely around the island and reducing our carbon footprint. If done right, it will powerfully address the needs of both 8 year olds and 80 year olds – because if it’s good for them, it’s good for everyone.

Gil Penalosa is a world-renowned sustainable transportation expert behind this “communities for all” concept. We’d like to invite you to his presentation on Tuesday, March 16th at 5 pm, in a City Council study session. This is a rare council study session in that it will include not only council members, but also Parks Commissioner, the School Board, the Land Trust and Parks Foundation in an effort to make this an island- wide collaboration. Gil is an inspiring speaker with decades of experience moving towns and cities toward bold action. He’s worked in over 300 cities across the world and is a senior advisor to Vision Zero Network, Children & Nature Network, America Walks and is an ambassador for the World Urban Parks.  We’re incredibly fortunate to have him “live.”
