SB Partner: Day of Preparedness

When: Saturday, September 19, 10am-1pm

Where: BI Fire Department Station 21, 8895 Madison Ave. N on Bainbridge Island.

Bainbridge Prepares, in partnership with COBI and BIFD will host the 11th annual Day of Preparedness. The event draws people from all over the Puget Sound, from across the bridge in Kitsap County, to people across the water in Seattle. Members across Bainbridge Prepares, COBI, and BIFD provide attendees with a plethora of information and materials that center around community emergency preparedness. Attendees can also converse with specialists at different information tables, including

  • Food Resilience
  • Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)
  • Communications Technology
  • Emergency Animal Care
  • Child Reunification
  • Medical Reserve Corps (and Psychological First Aid)
  • Map Your Neighborhood
  • Access and Functional Needs
  • Disaster Hubs
  • Puget Sound Energy
  • BIFD and Fire Preparation
  • Climate Resilience

Three special informational sessions will be held in Station 21’s community room:

  1. 10-10:30am – the BP Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) team will offer a demo on how to build your own Berkey-style water filter.
  2. 10:45-11:30am – BP Executive Director Stephen Richardson, Emergency Manager Anne Lesage, and BIFD Chief Jared Moravec will conduct a fireside chat on preparedness.
  3. 11:45am-12:30pm – BIFD staff will offer mini-CPR training. This requires advance registration.

At 12:30pm, Airlift Northwest will conduct a demonstration helicopter landing at the Station 21 helipad.
