Join Zero Waste for a free community screening of The Plastic Detox at the historic Lynwood Theater on Sunday, September 20, noon-2pm. Produced by an Academy Award-winning team, The Plastic Detox is a new, eye-opening and ultimately uplifting documentary that reveals the startling effects plastics and toxic chemicals are having on our bodies and health. Learn how you might lessen their presence in a relatively short period of time through simple changes to your lifestyle. The film follows five couples with unexplained infertility as they “detox” from plastic for three months to see if it changes their overall health and fertility.
Following the movie, the audience will have a chance to ask questions of toxicologists Dr. Shirlee Tan and Dr. Elinor Fanning.
Shirlee Tan, PhD, is the Senior Toxicologist for the Seattle & King County Public Health Department, where she serves as a technical advisor on issues related to chemical exposures, impacts and policies.
Elinor Fanning, PhD, is a senior toxicologist at the Washington State Department of Health. She has over 10 years of experience in academic and government environmental public health programs evaluating toxic substances and exposure scenarios.
Heather Trim, PhD, is executive director of Zero Waste Washington, a nonprofit that drives policy change for a healthy and waste-free world.
